years become 18. How many of us have been to swap meets and flea markets and picked up some great pieces held by someone for 20 or 30 years because they were hoping to restore but never got around to it?
“I, too, had found my never-
ending project in 2005. First viewed rusting in a corner of David Burns’ barn on the Big Rideau, his project became mine. His boathouse/barn was filled with some of the most beautiful functioning period pieces one could imagine and, stuck amongst the boat relics were a 1946 Ford three-quarter ton pick-up and a 1950 Ford Wagon with various parts jammed into the body, through the windows, and lying around. A start had been made on straightening the body pieces and there was a rough primer on a lot of the car. No wood, though – I had to imagine that. “What teenager in the 60s
