1993. Tekke Turkmen main carpet, Turkmenistan, late 19th century, 10ft. 6in. x 6ft. 4in. 3.20m. x 1.93m. An exceptional carpet with beautiful, lustrous and velvety wool; the field arranged with 5 x 10 guls within an unusual octagon and serrated ‘X’ motif main border. Note the narrow cream ground pile stripe at each end. Slight wear in places. £1,200-1,500


1995. Rare Tekke Turkmen main carpet, Turkmenistan, early 19th century, 7ft. 10in. x 6ft. 8in. 2.39m. x 2.03m. The archaic, rounded Tekke 6 x 12 guls linked by horizontal and vertical indigo stripes, divided by spaced elaborate chemche motifs. A beautiful Tekke carpet with lustrous, velvety wool with exceptional colour including a deep green. Overall wear; numerous holes with conservation in some areas. £1,500-2,500

1994. Exceptional Tekke Turkmen main carpet, Turkmenistan, second half 19th century, 9ft. 5in. x 5ft. 11in. 2.87m. x 1.80m. A carpet with beautiful velvety wool. Note the 4 x 12 archaic Tekke guls connected by vertical indigo stripes divided by elaborate chemche motifs of various designs which are themselves connected by vertical lines. Note also the addition of a headless human form in the top right corner. Wide striped kelim ends. Reweaves in places, including the top kelim end.

1996. Fine and rare Tekke Turkmen fragmented carpet, Turkmenistan, early 19th century, 7ft. 8in. x 5ft. 3in. 2.34m. x 1.60m. A very finely woven carpet with 6 x 12 archaic Tekke guls, the main border of shelpe octagons alternating with a varied repertoire of beautifully drawn ornaments and woven with beautiful, velvety wool. Lacking elems and right side border; some wear with holes and conservation in places. £1,200-1,500
