1770. Interesting Qajar picture, Persia, 19th century, oil on cloth, of a dancing lady with a lute player at her feet, in front of a draped terrace window., 42in. x 34in. 107cm. x 87cm. 1772. Fine Sindh pink silk fragmented skirt panel, finely embroidered in coloured silks with peacocks and floral sprays within a floral border. North India, late 19th century, 54in.x 62in.,137cm. x 157cm. Two lengths joined together down the centre, within an unrelated yellow silk border. Holes and shattering in places; surface stains. £300-500

Two Impressive Burmese scrolls, hand painted fabric, each depicting a large warrior figure each with a mythical animal at his feet and a pheasant among the clouds above, each attached to hanging poles with metal finials to the top and bottom, early 20th century, 74in. x 19in. 188cm. x 39cm. 1773. Collection of metal thread and embroidered items, including a large circular embroidered and metal thread cover; an embroidered satin bed cover, small beadwork circular cushion cover; Indian, Burmese, and Turkish embroidered, metal thread and bead fragments. 1771. Two Qajar woven silk fragments, Persia, 19th century, pale blue silk ground, both panels woven with bands of many horsemen with birds of prey alternating with bands of other figures among trees within narrow floral and figure borders, 68in. long x 14in. wide, 173cm. x 36cm.; the larger panel with additional bands of shepherd and sheep, 68in. long x 29in. wide 173cm. x 74cm. Some fraying in places. (2) £150-200
1775. Suite of three Indian velvet animal trappings(?) heavily embroidered with beads, metal thread and shisha-work comprising a large panel joined in the centre with a woven fabric band 78in. x 42in. 198cm. x 107cm.; a triangular panel and a shaped head piece. 20th century. (3) £50-100
Lot 1777
1777. Impressive Burmese kalaga, red felted wool ground appliquéd with braid, sequins, felt and cotton, the figures with painted features. The centre panel is composed of an entertaining and intense narrative depicted in three panels, the first appears to be taking place on a terrace; the centre in a garden and the third in a palace; to each side of the centre panel is an imploring kneeling figure. The border is composed of panels of flowering branches separated by seated figures possibly story-telling in an animated fashion. The whole panel edged with black/dark brown wool braid and lined with red cotton. Burma, late 19th century, 46in. x 100in. 117cm. x 254cm. Some general wear and slight moth damage in places. Note: A very similar example is exhibited in the British Museum, No. 1998. 0429,0.1 and another with similar border design, Christie’s Bernheimer Family Collection of Textiles, Lot 76, p.25, colour pl. 9.
