1627. European carpet, possibly Austrian, early 20th century, 18ft. 3in. x 15ft. 4in. 5.56m. x 4.67m. A very impressive design on a dark red field. Areas of wear with splits and holes in places, particularly in the centre. The carpet appears to have been cut around the whole of the outside with part of the outer guard turned under and sewn down. Sold with all faults not subject to return. £100-150

1621. Flemish silk and wool tapestry border fragment, probably Brussels 18th century, with a cartouche supported by putti depicting the reclining Perseus with a Medusa shield, 1ft10in. x 9ft.4in. 0.55m. x 2.85m. Some wear. Now with blue wool edging. £700-1,000


1625. Impressive large fragmented Chinese carpet, and six separate pieces, probably Beijing, about 1900, 26ft. 4in. x 13ft. 1in. 8.03m. x 3.99m. Beige and mid-brown diaper pattern field. Slight corrosion in places and with small repairs. Note: This carpet has been extremely skilfully reduced in width and in such a way as to retain the elaborate and playful dragons in each corner and the beige floral and stylized butterfly centre medallion. The original width of this stunning carpet would have been a massive 18ft. 4in. 5.59m. Some moth damage to the six separate pieces. (7) £2,000-4,000
