1887. An attractive central Anatolian kelim, possibly Karakecili first half 19th century, 8ft.11in. x 6ft.1in. 2.72m. x 1.84m. Some wear and damage in places, losses both ends and both long sides. Woven in to two roughly equal sections joined down centre. Like a number of central Anatolian kelims, this example has no side borders but wide end borders which match the main field bands in width. It has a particularly beautiful palette. Now sewn down on to linen backing. £2,500-3,000

1888. Fragmented Cappadocian kelim, central Anatolia mid-19th century, 8ft.2in. x 5ft. 2.49m. x 1.42m. Slight wear and small areas of damage in field. Losses to both long sides and substantial loss lower end. Woven in two roughly equal sections joined vertically in centre, although the design is not well coordinated from side to side except in the lowest section. Small sections of the original selvedge are retained on both long sides, demonstrating that the piece never had main long borders or guards; it is likely that about 2ft. (0.61m.) is now missing from the lower end. Now sewn down on to linen backing. £1,800-2,000
