FILTERS & FILTER MEDIA
“EVERY INSTALLER/RETAILER HAS THEIR OWN PREFERENCE, BE IT WELL KNOWN BRANDS, OR FUNCTIONAL MODELS THAT ARE RELIABLE BUT WITHOUT THE PRICE TAG”
Manufactured in their ISO 9001:2008 certified production facility, Waterco’s Micron commercial fibreglass filters offer proven quality and longevity
The Top Mount Vision filter from Certikin is the only one of its kind to feature a clear valve mounting ring
so requiring less remedial action and less chemical treatment to kill pollutants. Glass filter media is less dense than sand so requires 15% less media to fill the equivalent filter. It doesn’t degrade and therefore has a much longer life span. It is suitable for both commercial and domestic filters with laterals or nozzle plates. Waterco Glass bead filter media is a more expensive option, as the beads are manufactured from 100% virgin glass. Glass beads have a small effective size of only 0.6mm to 0.8mm. Its narrow particle size range allows in-depth filtration and extends operating cycles between backwashing. They have been lab tested to
filter down to below 3 microns effectively and do not have any sharp edges. Its high purity means very little backwashing is required to cleanse the filter media, prior to commissioning the filter.
Zeoclere is a high-grade zeolitic mineral commonly used for the reduction of ammonia from water supplies. Due to the ammonia removal, the use of chlorine is reduced and large savings can be achieved. In addition, water clarity can be improved by up to 60% when compared to sand. It has been available in the UK for over 20 years and continues to have a loyal fan base because of its water clarity and the considerable financial savings that it generates.
CERTIKIN HAS DOUBLE VISION! Certikin’s exclusive Vision bobbin wound domestic filters are bestsellers in their sector. The range offers unrivalled features such as a huge ten inch wide clear lid making sand changes quicker and easier and a dual dump port arrangement means a small outer cap can be removed for drainage and a larger secondary cap assists with the removal of the media. The Top Mount Vision is the only one of its kind to feature a clear valve mounting ring, allowing full view of the filter in operation whilst the pump is running. And for peace of mind, both side and top mount models come with an impressive ten year full tank warranty for residential installations.
CASE STUDY: Defender Chosen For Kent Swimming Pool Refit
Kingsmead Leisure Centre, opened in the mid 1960s. It is the best equipped facility in the area and offers a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities.
The filters and plant were original to the 1960s and were coming to the end of their life and were due to be replaced, so Canterbury City Council and Active Life Ltd decided that a complete refit was the best option to extend the life of the centre, whilst reducing costs through an energy efficient installation.

Active Life Ltd and Canterbury City Council had heard about Defender Filters and decided to look into the suitability of these types of filters for the centre. After

a visit to Tottenham Green Leisure Centre, which were using Defender filters and conversations with the other parties, the decision was easy.
“The Defender filters met our requirements in providing meeting energy and water savings whilst improving water quality. It was the obvious choice and offered the solution to the challenge we had set ourselves, which was to minimise costs and increase profitability whilst improving the facility,” said Philip Kiss, Canterbury City Council.
Along with providing superior water quality, Defender Filters save on chemicals, fuel and energy plus take up less space than other commercial filters.
