Made from specially formulated, durable polypropylene, Aquaflex winter debris covers are available in green/ black or blue/black mesh fabric

fitted around perimeter of the pool by using a strap and anchor system. Winter covers are also available through a number of UK manufacturers for cost effective coverage of above-ground pools.

Made from specially formulated, durable polypropylene, Aquaflex winter debris covers are available in green/black or blue/black mesh fabric. This tight mesh allows rainwater to pass through but keeps the pool water crystal clear. There are two types of debris cover available from Aquaflex; The Emperor and The Sovereign, both of which are supplied with a storage bag and a three year pro rata guarantee. Covers can be manufactured to accommodate ladders etc. intruding into the pool as well as steps sections outside the pool. All shapes and sizes can be supplied, with standard sizes generally available from stock. The covers are made 1’0” (0.30m) larger than the pool all round (i.e. add 2’0” (0.60m) to the width and length of the pool to calculate the cover size. Certikin is one of the country’s leading specialists for top quality winter debris covers, having notched up over 40 years of making them.

As you would expect of a top of the range cover, they are made of grade ‘A’ woven polyethylene, which has been proven to withstand the most rigorous of British climates. They feature specially formulated anti-chaffing pads, reinforced corners and polished stainless steel spring fittings. Each is individually made to the customer’s specifications, fit perfectly and look attractive – be it kidney, kite, oval or a simple rectangular shape. A cover will keep the pool clean for when you open it up again in the spring – their heavier weave Maple Ultra cover option eliminates almost all light penetration; considerably reducing the chance of algae growth. Surface water will slowly seep through the fabric, keeping all other debris on top. Available in green, blue and tan, all covers come with a five year guarantee. Certikin’s Walu cover provides three covers for the price of one: installing a Walu means you can dispense with a solar bubble cover

and its reel system, a winter cover and all other safety systems as this multi-tasking cover will do it all for you! First and foremost Walu is a safety cover. Manufactured to the stringent French NF p90- 308 safety standard and comfortably holding a weight of 100kg, the Walu offers solar and heat retention benefits and acts as a first class winter cover. Unlike other safety covers, where the whole system needs to be replaced if it should become damaged, all individual parts on the Walu cover are replaceable. The cover’s panels and anodised aluminium tubes are interchangeable and so can be replaced, if necessary, and on site so, you never have to be without your pool safety system. When investing in a winter debris cover, your customer needs to know it is tough enough for the job. Plastica have over 40 years’ experience in manufacturing standard and freeform debris covers and their quality of workmanship and expertise is unrivalled. The perimeter of the cover is reinforced with webbing that is triple stitched with rot resistant thread, in addition, the underside of the straps are protected by a tough anti- chaffing material. There is a choice of ground fixings to suit specific requirements. The cover will be a barrier against debris, while letting rain water through, helping to keep the pool crystal clear and ready for the following season.

For automatic winter coverage there is again a great choice from UK distributors with a firm and growing favourite being the

fully insulated Covrex automatic cover from Fairlocks that is perfect for use in both domestic and commercial pools, indoor and out. Covrex is also particularly tough in severe weather conditions.

There are of course many other cover manufactures and suppliers to choose from – far too many to mention here but it’s great to know that when choosing a cover, options will far from limited. Winterising your customer’s pool provides the perfect opportunity to ensure everything around a pool is ship shape and ready for a bright new season. Don’t miss out on the chance to change or regenerate the filter media or service the plant. It may be that ‘going green’ in a good way is on a customer’s mind and perhaps it’s the right time to talk about solar energy and other environmentally friendly and money saving pieces of pool equipment that may be of interest.
