SHOP OF THE MONTH

Moody Sow

Voice’s shop of the month is the incredible Moody Sow Farm Shop, which is part of Cefn Mably Farm Park.

T

his traditional butchers and grocery store is the brainchild of Rhys Edwards, a fourth generation farmer and his lovely wife Alyona. In keeping with the tradition of his

forefathers, who were highly successful farmers,

butchers and green grocers, Rhys has decided to repeat the great tradesmen values of his family heritage, by showcasing the best in artisan food and drink that Wales and the surrounding area has to offer. Rhys told Voice: “We make fresh sausages and

smoke our own bacon, all from our own pedigree pigs that range free in the woodland next to the Moody Sow Farm Shop. “Our beef, lamb and poultry are sourced from

local farms, which we consider to be the best in quality and taste, with the emphasis on as few food miles as possible.” The Moody Sow Farm Shop also stocks a full

selection of loose fruit and vegetables, sourced from local growers wherever possible. New to the farm shop are homemade scotched

eggs, pies, sausage rolls and many other delicious savoury items.

The shop also offers beers that are brewed in the

region, locally sourced wines, soft drinks and a wide selection of pickles and preserves, which are either made there or sourced from local producers. All this combined with groceries and frozen foods

sourced from the best suppliers around, makes Moody Sow Farm Shop a foodie’s paradise. The Moody Sow will be showcasing its produce

at the Cardiff Country Fair, which will be held at Cardiff Castle on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29. The team will also have a stall at Newport Food

Festival in October, where they will have a chef’s demonstration of how to prepare and cut steak. Make a date in your diary for both of these

fantastic events, where you can see the Moody Sow’s professional and traditional butchers in action, sample some of their homemade fare and take home some high quality and great tasting meats with some great recipe ideas for you to try at home. On Thursday, October 31, a special barbeque

Halloween event will be held at Cefn Mably Farm Park, which starts at 6pm until 9pm.
