BRIDGEND FEASTIVAL COUNTS DOWN TO FOOD AND FUN

T

he countdown is on to fabulous food, drink and fun for all the family at Bridgend Feastival Friday 27th & Saturday 28th September 2013 10am – 5pm. For two days the town centre will be alive with the sights, sounds, scents – and of course tastes – of some of the very best Welsh and local food and drink.

More than 60 exhibitors will be taking

part offering a wide range of mouthwatering treats to try and buy, while the entertainment promises to amuse and surprise! Now in its fourth year the increasingly popular Feastival is taking a refl ective look at food treats from around the area, so expect the unexpected.

“Our aim is to give local producers a platform to show the range of quality food and drink we have in the Bridgend area,” says David Roderick, Bridgend County Borough

Council Rural Food Coordinator. “Feastival is all about celebrating and highlighting local and Welsh produce in a fun and informative way. “With grant funding from the Welsh Government and help from our sponsors and supporters we hope this year’s event will attract even more people to the Bridgend Feastival experience.” We would like to thank the Co-operative and other sponsors both large and small for all their help in helping us provide an unusual food experience to all our visitors. Food Art is a central part of the Feastival experience, the most memorable being the 10ft ‘collapsing caulifl ower sheep’ in 2010, which has since become a hit on YouTube. This year look out for the 10ft high ice- cream cone that will appear over the 2 days in Dunraven Place, just outside the post

offi ce. Local children’s activity groups will be supporting the creation of the cone and providing the recycled Welsh foods packaging material that it will be built of.

All around the town there will be childrens activities taking place on Saturday including Spaghetti Bridge Building, the Egg Drop, just wrap your egg in packaging material ready for the 30ft drop later in the day, Leek Lobbing and creative arts including face painting and making giant lollipops. Bridgend Town Centre will come to life with buskers playing on street corners and live music being performed outside the music store during the day.
