he husband and wife team have put a lot of hard work
and effort into breathing new life into this once popular old coaching inn, which lay dormant for quite some years before they took over the business last year. The Gate offers premium
dining with a modest price-tag, a wide variety of drinks from the well-stocked bar, including a great choice of local real ales and an admirable selection of wines to compliment the delicious food. There’s great entertainment
at The Gate too, with live musicWednesday in the bar. On Thursday evenings there is piano music in the restaurant. The delectable meals on
The Gate’s varied menus are meticulously prepared by the award-winning team of professional chefs, led by head chef Jonathan Friar. All food is prepared and
made in-house. All dishes are made from scratch, and nothing is bought or ready made, the chefs can even tell you the provenance of all their meats and where to purchase it from. Food is served from 12noon
to 2.30pm and then from 6pm until 9.30pmMonday to Thursday and from 12noon until 9.30pm Friday and Saturday. Sunday lunch is available
from 12noon until 5.30pm, and you can choose to enjoy three courses, each of which is individually priced. There’s always a selection
of three roasts to choose from, which changes every week and there’s also a vegetarian option too. Julie and James invite you
to have afternoon tea at The Gate every last Thursday of the month, afternoon tea is served from 2.30pm until 5.30pm. You can choose from a

selection of sandwiches, freshly baked cakes and pastries and from a wide variety of teas and coffees. The Gate also hosts a

is an ideal venue for your Christmas party, where you can celebrate the festivities in comfort and style. The Gate at Llanfrechfa’s
Christmas festive party menu is now available and will be served throughout December until Christmas Eve. A sensational two or three-
course meal awaits you and is priced at £14.95 or £29.95 respectively. The festive party menu is
only available by booking, and is served at both lunchtime and during evening dinner. With such delights as
traditional roast turkey with chipolata and chestnut stuffing, or hake shoulder steak topped with a prawn and tarragon sauce, The Gate’s festive party menu is sure to whet anyone’s appetite. The Gate will be also be
serving food on Christmas Day this year with a spectacular six- course meal priced at £70 per person and £40 for children up to the age of 11. Spaces are limited for this
