Lindsay Grice and Kris Simpson for not having their names listed on the list. Lindsay and Kris have both been promoted to Sr. Judges
and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Both ladies bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with them and we are confident that they will do a terrific job.
W.H.A.O. POINT AWARD SHOWS

As mentioned, Extrava- ganza is coming together nicely. Thank you to Walker Industries, Mike Tucker, Suzanne Hardcastle and Nor- folk Saddle Club for their generous sponsorships. There is always a need for more sponsors. The more we have, the more we are able to offer to the exhibitors. There are some other sponsorship in the works and I can’t wait to tell everyone about them. Extravaganza will be held at the Ancaster Fair Grounds on June 22-24. The Friday show will be an evening warm up. It will be held in the arena with a handful of classes so that people can come out, have fun and warm their horses up before the weekend. This show will not be a point award show, but will still offer payback using the jack- pot system.
Saturday and Sunday will be point award show. Each day will offer a full list of classes with each class having a payback. These two days will also be PAC Approved for those who compete APHA horses. Stalls and camping are avail- able as well as hook-ups. All this information will be available when the entry package is complete (April). Pre-entries will be taken for this show, but on-site entries will also be accepted with a slight penalty.
The first show of the year will once again be held at Knowlton Ridge Equestri- an Centre in Powossan. This is a beautiful facility with indoor and outdoor pens, stalling and camping. Scott Carmichael and Melanie Gray are the judges for the weekend. Details can be found on our website

The WHAO Judges committee would like to thank Barb Hughes for her year of service as a Senior Judge. Barb has moved from Ontario to the east coast and we wish her all the best. Barb as been with WHAO as a Senior Judge for a number of years and we are sorry to see her go and do hope she will come back and visit with us from time to time.
The easiest ways to stay in touch with the WHAO is to friend us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. These are great tools to get infor- mation out to our member- ship quickly. If there is a show cancellation because of weather, we can put it on there. Maybe someone is stuck on the side of the road on their way to a show...we could tweet and a fellow competitor may be in the area and can help!
If you are looking to purchase a membership, you can download a membership form from our website or you can purchase one at the show. Youth and Single are only $20 and a family mem- bership is $30. By being a member, your points will count towards year end awards, you are covered under our insurance while competing at a WHAO Point Award Show, you have a vote at our annual general meeting, you receive a sub- scription to The Rider and you get to be part of a fantas- tic organization. While you don’t require a membership to show at WHAO Point Award Shows, you will be required to pay a $5 day fee to the WHAO.
As always, we are look- ing for ways to make the WHAO even better. If you have any suggestions, com- ments or questions, please give me a call or send me an email. I love meeting new faces and answering their questions.
Our thoughts are with Lee Tarbutt on a speedy recovery from heart surgery. From his Facebook posts, we can see that he is itching to get back into the saddle. As you saw in the last
edition of The Rider, one of our Life Members, Kit Bar- tle, turns 70 in February. Happy Birthday...you don’t look a day over 50!
The WHAO judges committee is hosting a clinic on April 21 at the Ancaster Fair Grounds. For more information, contact Don Stauffer at 519-942-3999. I look forward to seeing all of your at our shows this summer.
Becky Riley
