OBRA NEWS MARCH 2012
OBRA will be kicking off the 2012 season with the OBRA Barrel Blast at REACH, Clinton ON, April 27, 28 and 29th. We have over $4000 added money; classes include Open 4D, Pole Bending, Futurity, Youth and Rookie. We will also be featuring the very pop- ular “Just for Kicks” class, not only is it fun to participate, it is even more entertaining to watch! REACH is a fantastic venue and we hope to see everyone there! OBRA Area Directors have been hard at work and have put together an amazing show schedule for 2012. The OBRA Rookie Class and Division heads into a third year. The Rookie Class is a great oppor-
tunity for new or less experienced riders to gain some barrel miles and have FUN! Rookie OBRA members also have a chance at a saddle and buckle for the Rookie Division year-end high point and reserve champions.
Pole Bending is alive and thriving in Ontario and if you haven’t tried it yet, this is the year to start! A new partnership for 2012/2013 has been formed between the OBRA and the National Pole Bending Association (NPBA) .The NPBA will offer a two year membership to any NEW members to the NBPA for a one year membership fee of $40 US; please refer to
http://polebending.org/pages/join- npba.php for more details and a membership form. OBRA has committed to sanctioning NPBA
for a minimum of 3 OBRA man- aged shows. The National Cham- pionships this year will be held in Libertyville, Kentucky from June 29 to July 1, 2012 and a member will only need to qualify by run- ning at 2 sanctioned shows prior to May 31. Ontario has a very talent- ed group of pole benders and pole horses, watch out Kentucky…here we come!
