In January of 2009 we felt the need for an opportunity for horse enthusiasts in Wellington, Waterloo and Dufferin counties to sell, swap or buy used tack. The hall was booked at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus, the website was developed and advertising began looking for vendors. There was room for 35 eight foot tables. Registrations were slow with the date approaching and we began to worry about disappoint- ing both vendors and spec- tators. We then approached many horse related busi- nesses to sell or promote their business. Well, that was the turn the show

needed to succeed.

The first event was completely booked with 35 vendors and 250 people attended the show. The feedback from the vendors and attendees was very positive and hope was that the event would become an annual event.

Planning for the 2010 show started and it was soon realized that the hall used the first year was not going to be large enough to handle the bookings. The 16,000 sq ft arena was booked making way for the addition of 40 – 10 foot x10 foot booths as well as 20 more 8’tables. The hall was also used to offer 10 seminars for vendors wanting to promote their product and for potential customers to ask questions.

The new expansion was about 75% booked and the seminars were hit and miss on attendance. Attendance for the 2010 show sur- passed the 500 people mark.

Before the date and registration was released for the 2011 show we had already started to receive emails and phone calls inquiring. All 96 vending spots were completely booked by the event. The advertising budget was increased as well as the Grand River Raceway sponsored radio advertising on local radio stations. The attendance was just shy of 1000 people. The seminars were well attended and many ran over the 25 minute time limit with lots of questions.

Bookings for the 2012 show on Sunday April 29 are well under way with over 50% of the

vendor spaces booked as of the end of February. There is additional vendor space available if the arena floor is booked. New sponsors this year will provide us with more advertising to promote the show
