NBHA Canada News
for riding. Sure makes getting ready for Spring Thaw a lit- tle easier than some years in the past! We are so looking forward to seeing everyone again! This year is already looking like its going to be awesome with new shows and some new classes for our Spring Thaw and Canada Day. NBHA Canada would like to welcome new Director
We have been lucky lately with lots of good weather
for District 3, Laurie Fisher. She is working hard on obtaining shows for your area. If you can be of any assis- tance to her at all, with new show prospects, or sponsor- ships, please get in touch with her. Her email is eyebean-
ickbar1@hotmail.com and her other contact information such as phone number etc will be posted on the website. NBHA has some news to share with everyone. We have joined forces with the National Pole Bending Associa- tion, and most of our shows will have co-sanctioning. We will start the year out with our Spring Thaw and the Friday night Polebending and the Sunday Polebending will be sanctioned. Here is a message from Joanne Fisher, who is in charge of the NPBA here in Ontario.
A great new opportunity for Pole Benders!! A new partnership for 2012/2013 will now exist between the NBHA and the NPBA. We have con- firmed that the NPBA will offer a 2 year membership to any NEW mem- bers to the NBPA for a 1 year member- ship fee of $40 US. Due to time con- straints at shows and added money, we will be putting on an open 3D class only. So any youth in order to qualify for the National show will need to have an open membership and not a youth membership to qualify. Please refer to
http://polebending.org/pages/join- npba.php for membership form. All monies must be sent in US funds and all membership forms will need to be received by them prior to the first show. For anyone who is planning on buying their membership, if they could please let me know, that way I will be able to track membership for this year. Email:
jfisher5577@rogers.com National Championships this year will be held in Libertyville , Kentucky from June 29, 2012 to July 1, 2012 and a member will only need to qualify by running at 2 sanctioned shows prior to May 31, 2012. The NBHA is looking to sanction all their shows this year with the NPBA, so we will be using a 3D format this year with 1 second splits for any shows which are approved for co-sanctioning. Any shows considering co-sanctioning will be required to abide by the NPBA rules.
a lot of fun. You can also apply any sponsor discounts you may have accu- mulated if you wish. Those are yours when you raise some sponsorship dol- lars for NBHA. So get out there and ask your feed mill, your farrier, your vet even your local merchant. We offer the sponsor different rewards depending on the level they donate at. So their donation benefits both the rider and the NBHA.
We also have a newly updated membership form. Please use this one from now on, as we will be asking you to send your renewal memberships directly to the USA when possible. We will still be taking them at shows for new members. Please remember to check out the website at www.nbha-
canada.com for the latest updates, entry forms, and new show dates. If you have a show, or know someone that would like to put a show on please get in touch with us. We can go out to the potential show host and do a presenta- tion, or contact them by email or phone; whichever they prefer. As we add more shows, they will be listed on the website.

District 1. Via Trailers(T),
*You will not be required to buy a NPBA membership should you not wish to accumulate points or qualifica- tion in the NPBA, and you are still able to run in any pole bending run put on by the NBHA*. The NPBA rules indi- cate that qualification is based on the member and not a horse/rider combina- tion. You do not need to qualify with the same horse in order to qualify for the National Show. And, once you have qualified, you are able to take as many horses to the National Show as you wish.
The NBHA has confirmed com- mitment at this point to the Spring Thaw and Canada Day. They will be looking to obtain commitment from the remainder of the show hosts for the 2012 year.
We have some great pole benders and great pole bending horses in Ontario …….now it’s time to show what they can do!
Our Spring Thaw show is now posted on the website and included here. Our big news for that show is that we have added the Green As Grass classes that have been such a success in District 2. It will be limited to people who have only barrel raced for less than two years. Tell everyone! Any first timers that wish to ride and are not members of the NBHA can attend our Spring Thaw and try out the classes and not pay any day passes. Please remember to help support the NBHA and bring a silent auction item with you. That is a great fundraiser and also
