In 2002 they launched the SR3; a genuine two-seater, road-legal track car that wowed both the press and track drivers all over the world. It has become Radical’s most popular model to date and was soon followed by the compact SR4, a small, light and practical two-seater that proved to be the perfect successor to the original Clubsport.

Then, in 2005, Radical launched the big one. The awesome

SR8, powered by the high-revving, 380bhp Powertec RPV8 engine, bringing Le Mans Prototype pace to the national racing scene. The mighty RPE RPV8 was designed, developed and manufactured in-house and the car now holds several circuit out-right lap records including the highly competed for prize of the production car record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This is Radical’s ultimate racer, and it provides the definitive visceral driving experience. Physics- defying grip, relentless acceleration and powerful brakes add up to a two-seater track car that can lap Silverstone in the same time as a Formula 3 single-seater. And at a fraction of the price. For 2011, the SR8 RX’s styling and chassis have been developed

to comply with the latest FIA CN class regulations incorporating a higher rollhoop and scuttle homologating the SR8 RX for international competition well into the future. The latest generation of RPE’s acclaimed RP V8 engine powers the SR8 RX through a unique RPE/Quaife six-speed transaxle.

Coupled with the RPE paddleshift system and auto-blipper, flat upshifts and clutchless downshift are all part of the package. The SR8 RX’s gearbox was described by former F1 driver, Alex Yoong, as having “the best gearchange I’ve driven outside of F1.” Supplied new in August 2008 at a cost of £104,071 + vat, which

included full carbon composite bodywork as well as a £7,000 Stack data logging and video system, this car has been run, maintained and prepared by the Radical factory team exclusively. It has only raced at two weekend meetings, both in 2008; the UK series at Rockingham finishing 4th and then Radical European Masters at Le Mans where it won. Since then, it has been for just one track day at Silverstone in September 2008. It comes with two spare sets of rims and tyres, spare bodywork, high downforce rear diffuser, race lighting set with xenon lights and front/rear floating brake and discs. Pit stops are assisted with an air jack system as well as an FIA specification fuel cell, dry-break re-fuelling system and ‘ready to fit’ tail and nose sections. Also included are many more tyres and wheels as well as alternate gear ratios, suspension components and other spare parts to make up a comprehensive package that requires next to nothing to adapt this high end machine to any circuit required. If you have the skill set and a spare shelf for the inevitable silverware, then this is the car for you.
