£15,000 - £19,000 The 4973cc, R129 Mercedes-Benz SL500 carried on the

tradition of the fast and reliable grand touring convertible from Mercedes-Benz. Born out of the earlier 500SL models, the new SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas of the time such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. A fully operating electric hood, windows, door mirrors and seats made this model easy and comfortable to operate. With powerful engines, stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for reassurance. During 1995, a mild facelift was carried out to the model range that included revisions to the head lights, tail lights and several new features adopted as standard including side air bags, automatic climate control and ESP.

Being presented

today is a vehicle some may describe as an almost new example of the marque. With only approximately 28,000 recorded miles

114

and a full service history, this motorcar must be seen to be appreciated. Benefits include Xenon headlights, 6 CD multi-changer, fully adjustable memory fully contoured seats and burr walnut trim that is also applied to the steering wheel and gear change. Further refinements include an AMG body kit and split alloy wheels. It is understood from the vendor that these AMG modifications were carried out at the factory during production where the body shell was modified. These modifications are carried out to not only accommodate the body kit but also to allow for the wider split rim alloy wheels and tyres.

Although stated on the registration document as having three

previous keepers, it is in fact, until recently, a one family owned vehicle until the purchase by the current fourth registered keeper and owner. We are informed that the hood was operated for the first time in 2011; in black, it operates correctly and looks in ‘as new’ condition. There are also further benefits of the additional hardtop and stand that is available and a wind deflector, useful for when the hood is down. Importantly, a recent service has been carried out which included a set of new front brake pads. Presented in two tone pearlescent blue coachwork

complemented by a Napa leather interior, this beautiful Mercedes- Benz comes with a recent MoT test certificate and road fund licence thus allowing the lucky new owner to enjoy all the benefits this fabulous example has to offer straight away.

Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Buyers are advised to inspect the car in person or use a professional to carry out this service.
