£22,000 - £28,000 The Crosslé Car Company was founded by John and Rosemary

Crosslé in 1957 and soon established itself as a manufacturer of high quality racing cars for those wishing to participate in the expanding motor-sport scene after the war. John Crosslé’s attention to detail and value for money, coupled with good design and sensible strong construction, soon led to a rapidly expanding company. Early success in 1172cc Ford Specials soon led to the building of replicas for John’s friends. Formula Juniors and sports cars soon followed and single seat racing cars encompassed Formula Two and Formula 5000. The company became a real world leader when the Formula Ford 1600 and 2000 classes were formed and was soon leading the field in both Europe and America. Crosslé Formula Fords were always the choice with racing schools because of their strength and quality of construction. Thousands of young hopefuls have had their first motor racing experience in a Crosslé and many of the famous

names in motorsport have progressed from those early exploits to fame and fortune, including Nigel Mansell, Johnny Dumfries and John Watson, to name but a few! Crosslé Cars soon became established as one of the leading racing car manufacturers in the world cementing their reputation throughout motorsport. This 1980 Crosslé 42S Historic Sports 2000 car was the subject

of a ground up, nut and bolt rebuild by the Crosslé factory in 2007 and has only been used about ten times since then. It is finished in the eye catching Gulf livery and described to be in race ready condition with a fresh engine, rebuilt two years ago and ready to win in Historic Sports 2000. This striking example has already had wins and podiums in Historic Sports 2000 in the UK and Germany and is a very competitive and driver-friendly car also ideal for track days. There is still excellent back up from the Crosslé factory if required. Supplied with spare parts, including suspension components, gear ratios, a spare set of wheels and FIA Historic Papers, this represents an opportunity to obtain a low cost entry into historic racing in the Sports 2000 Historic Championship (pre-‘83) - just in time for the first race of the 2012 season held at Silverstone in April.
