Instruction for this class will include asana and vinyasa posture sequences in which relaxation/meditation techniques are intro- duced as an integral part of yoga philosophy and practice. Just about anyone can practice yoga because there is an emphasis on advancing gradually, sensibly, and safely. These classes are for both beginner and returning students. Please bring a mat to class. Tai Chi Tai Chi Exercise is a Chinese ancient exercise art for health. It is a holistic exercise that can improve energy and balance. Tai Chi exercise improves health by increasing muscle strength/en- durance, improving flexibility/coordination/balance, relaxing mind/body and reducing anxiety/stress, improving circula- tion/breathing/digestion. For both mind and body, there is noth- ing like this gentle, relaxed, graceful, holistic exercise art. Instructor is Dr. Xiaoping Xu. She is a master of Tai Chi, having over 20 years of experience teaching Tai Chi to over thousands of people in China, Japan and the USA. There is scientific evidence that shows the benefits of weight- bearing exercise on bone density. We reach peak bone density in our twenties and begin to lose it in our thirties. This is espe- cially true without proper exercise, diet and with a family history of osteoporosis. This class takes you through a wide variety of light weight bearing exercises to help you stay strong and healthy. Our instructor, Jen Young, holds a Master degree in Exercise Sci- ence and conducted her graduate studies on the effects of exer- cise on bone density. Location: Community Center Room A.
