A Letter from the Director Letter from the Director

Board of Park Commissioners Donald R. Cook, President

Greetings!

What a 2011! Your new Recreation Center at 1925 Ohio Street has really turned out to be a gem. Like any major project, this one was not without its challenges. However, I have never been more proud of our staff in co- ordinating this project while still delivering all of the services we do on a daily, weekly and seasonal basis…and now we all have a facility that can better meet the current and future needs of our community. We were met with rave reviews at the open house, which was held on October 18th and as I said there, we’re truly proud of what the community has provided and we look forward to many years of delivering top-notch leisure opportunities to you.

I’ll say to all of you as I’ve said to those who’ve come by because they missed the open house, “feel free to stop by any time because every- day’s an open house!”

We have a great 2012 in store for you. While we settle into our newly ren- ovated facilities, we trust you’ll agree the accommodations are much im- proved. With new programming space at the Recreation Center including multi purpose rooms, meeting rooms, the Gentle Learning Preschool facility, Senior Center and athletic space, we’re eager to fill them with programs. The Community Center at 1825 Short Street will also have newly renovated space that will include two rooms with sprung wood floors…ideal for dance and fitness classes of all types. Many new programs are offered to show- case your new facilities, including kick ball, dodge ball and Zumba Gold for Seniors to name just a few.

On a related note, Wheatstack, A Midwestern Eatery & Tap is rapidly be- coming the lifestyle restaurant of the area. Our investment in that facility is beginning to pay off. Aside from marked improvements in atmosphere, food quality and service for casual diners, it’s gaining popularity in hosting events, too. Whether you or someone you know is looking to hold a bridal or baby shower, rehearsal dinner, family reunion, holiday party or business lunch, our staff is eager to serve up the best in Midwestern Cuisine and hospitality to make your next event a complete success.

On behalf of the entire Lisle Park District staff, thank you for your continued support of parks and recreation. As always, if you have any suggestions, ideas, or concerns, please contact us directly.
