Meet the Staff Drew Gwilliam, Parks Specialist

Drew is one of Lisle Park Dis- trict’s four Parks Specialists and is responsible for 10 parks, in- cluding Beau Bien, Surrey Ridge, Coach House, and Valley Forge Park. He has been a full-time member of the Parks Depart- ment for three years and is a longtime Lisle resident. Drew has many passions, but his chief pas- sion is sports. After a hard day’s work you may find Drew watch- ing sporting events on TV, play- ing fantasy football, or participating in his fourth year of

the park district’s 12 in. co-recreational softball league. One could say Drew is a real man’s man, but if you ask any of his three sisters they would say he’s a softie at heart! On top of having three sisters, Drew is also one of three boys and says life at home is “kind of like the Brady Bunch, but without the maid.”

Coming Soon! Athletic Space at the Recreation Center With the purchase of the building at 1925 Ohio Street, we were not only able to provide offices for all of our staff, preschool and senior center all under one roof, but we are able to expand our athletic programming with the addition of our new athletic space. This space is meant to replace the small gym lost when we left the Meadows Center. This new athletic space will feature a state-of-the-art synthetic sport court which will serve as the perfect surface for our early childhood athletic classes, baton and poms, dance classes and more! With this space we can also expand our programming and host programs in our own facility that we would typi- cally co-op with other districts. This space will be capable of hosting in- door programming during inclement weather for many of our outdoor programs as well such as T-ball with Adult, Soccer Shooting Stars along with Camp Summer Quest and No Name Teen Camp! We are all very ex- cited about the programming possibilities that can take place in this space and can’t wait for its completion!
