Around Kingswear SAVE THE CHILDREN

The Kingswear branch of SAVE THE CHILDREN is holding a COFFEE MORNING and BOOK LAUNCH at ‘The Anchorage’ Redoubt Hill, Kingswear from 10.30 am on Friday 7th October 2011 by kind invitation of Joy and Mike Baylis. As part of the Save the Children ‘Born to Cook’ campaign ‘Angel Food’ has been compiled and co-written by Joyce Molyneux, former co-owner with Meriel Matthews of The Carved Angel in Dartmouth, and Gerard Baker, chef , food writer and broadcaster on Radio Four’s Food Programme. The well received book ‘Four Potatoes and a Recipe’ written by Richard Curtis for Save the Children has generated £50,000 profit since 2007, and the profit from the sale of ‘Angel Food’ will also be donated to Save the Children’s work worldwide. A very acceptable gift, the book will be available to buy in time for Christmas. We will also have our popular home- baked cakes for sale. The cost is £5.00, which includes filter coffee, scrumptious home-made cookies and a lucky draw ticket. Tickets for this event are available from Joy Baylis on 01803 752993. We look forward to the pleasure of your company.

KINGSWEAR REGATTA

Gill Davies has asked that the following be placed on the Around Kingswear page. ‘I would like to add my congratulations to the organisers of the Regatta who worked so hard to make it such a thumping success. The money was hard-earned and, will I am sure, be put to the best possible use by the recipients.’
