BEER & WINE AT THE FESTIVAL:

FLAVEL

BECOMES THE FOOD FESTIVAL

Susy Atkins

WINE VENUE In an exciting development for 2011 we are pulling out all the stops to create a really exciting wine element within the Festival. Housed within the Flavel this will include stalls, activities,

presentations and tastings all dedicated to wine (with maybe a little beer and cocktails thrown in).

If you want to taste great local and international wines, develop your palate by taking ‘The Taste

Experience’, listen to talks by writer Susy Atkins, sommelier Tim McLaughlin Green and others, or enjoy a tutored tasting with a Master of Wine this will be the place. We are delighted to be able to establish the wine venue in association with Dartmouth’s Flavel Arts Centre and very happy to be working more closely with the team there.

SHIP INN BEER FESTIVAL IN KINGSWEAR Spreading the Festival across the water worked really well last year and we are once again very pleased that Colin and the great team at the Ship will be laying on a Beer Festival to coincide with Food Festival. Last year they featured 30 different ales, lagers and ciders so this is a must

visit location on your Food Festival itinerary.

FESTIVAL’S OWN BEER Bridgetown Brewery in Totnes have agreed to brew an ale especially for the Food Festival this year. The beer will be perfectly balanced to complement seafood, with a light citric acidity much like you would find in a Muscadet wine. The beer will be delivered by boat on Thursday 20th at 5pm and will be available throughout the Festival.
