Opportunities in the

Quarter Horse Industry

Groom One Orientation Session runs in March

March 2, 2011 – The Pathway to Employment and Education Program, developed and administered by the Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program, pro- vides a 20-week wage subsidy attached to employment in the Quarter Horse racing industry for individuals who participate in the Groom One Orientation Session hosted by Equine Guelph March 25th-26th. The Pathway to Employ- ment and Education Program supports entry-level skills development for the Quarter Horse racing industry. The Program subsidizes the orienta- tion fee for those referred by the Quarter Horse industry to the Groom One Orientation Session ($175). The Program also offers a wage subsidy to eligible employers who hire individuals who complete the two-day session. These indi- viduals are considered Pathway Students, and the Pathway Pro- gram further supports their skills development through a bursary bonus for completion of the Groom One online pro- gram and tuition reimburse- ment once the Pathway Student has earned a Groom One Cer- tificate from the University of Guelph.

The Groom One Orienta-

tion Session will be held on March 25th-26th at Country Hill Farm in Goodwood, Ontario, located at RR #1 1380 3rd concession (905-642- 2642). There will be a tour of Ajax Downs on the afternoon of the 26th and an opportunity for employers to meet and greet the students.
