President’s Message

Our Annual General Meeting on February 13th was very well attended, and it is great to see so many members take an active interest in how their Association is being run Reiny Season Clinic, featuring Bill Rinzema as the clinician, scheduled etc..

At the meeting, a new Green As Grass Wel- come class was announced, where riders can come out and try reining without having to take out an ORHA membership to do so. We encourage you to bring a friend out to try this class and enjoy our great sport.

And on the topic of new reiners, Board mem- ber Art Roberts unveiled our New Member Orien- tation Package. We are very proud of this publica- tion, which includes detailed information about reining, the classes, your Board of Directors, show tips and so on. It is something I am sure even sea- soned reiners will enjoy reading. Copies will be available at the shows, but it is also on our website at www.orha.on.ca and I encourage you to take a look at it.

Many of you may already know that any paid- Youth Association

The ORHA youth (ORHyA) is a sub-group of the ORHA, made up of members under the age of 19. Our goal is to have fun doing something that we each share a love for, and to support each other. We have our own President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, and the ORHA appoints an adult member as the Youth Advisor, to support and guide the ORHyA Committee, and to approve its activities. This year, we have two Youth Advi- sors, Dana Mailhot and Carol Ivey.

We have regular meetings at the shows, where we plan fundraising events for the year, the pro- ceeds of which go toward a year-end award for every member of the ORHyA. Every youth that shows at a minimum of 50% of the shows, or is

involved in the ORHyA on an active basis, is enti- tled to a year end award, which is presented at the ORHA year-end banquet. The ORHyA selects and votes on its choice of award each year. This year we also plan to do more things in the spirit of fun and friendship, and there are big plans in the making for a fantastic year filled with riding, socialising and the making of memories that will be forever. This year I am looking forward to see- ing new faces, helping the youth grow, and making friendships that could last a lifetime.

Darby Mailhot, President, ORHyA

The time is to be logged at the show office once

2. GREEN HORSE RULE CHANGE A horse may now be shown in Green Horse for TWO years, provided it has not been shown in any other class in a previous year.

up member of the ORHA will now automatically also be a member of Reining Canada, and there will be no RC membership fee, so this is very exciting. Unless you tick the box on your ORHA membership form to indicate otherwise, your name will be submitted to RC for this membership and any attached benefits that offers.

And on the topic of RC, if you won a RC year-end award last year and were not at the AGM to pick it up, please contact Lee Foster at leefos- ter_50@hotmail.com or 519-538-7939 to arrange to get it. The jackets are absolutely gorgeous this year.

The first official reining event of the year will be Joanne Milton’s annual Reiny Season Clinic on April 30/May 1, featuring Bill Rinzema as this year's clinician. This is an ORHA fundraiser, so I encourage you to participate if you can. And after that, we’ll be riding and sliding at Fletchers the first weekend of May, and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Stay warm and safe. Carol
