2011 Canadian Quarter Horse Association Annual General Meeting
Held January 28, 2011
The Canadian Quarter Horse Association held its 2011 Annual General Meeting in Ottawa, ON, on Friday, January 28, 2011. A PDF copy of the Chair’s AGM PowerPoint presen- tation is posted on the CQHA website.
The AGM began at 6:30 p.m. with distin- guished keynote speaker, Ms. Cindy Schonholtz, of Colorado Springs, CO who spoke about “Animal Wel- fare & Animal Rights Issues Facing the Horse Industry”. There was no registration required or fee to pay to attend this meet- ing and it was open to all (CQHA members, Equine Canada members, the pub- lic and the media). Alliance member, serves on the Animal Welfare Committee of the Ameri- can Horse Council and is a member of the Public Poli- cy Committee for the American Quarter Horse Association. She served as the Executive Director for the American Youth Horse Council for four years and was on the Colorado Horse Council Board of Directors for 10 years. Ms. Schon- holtz has been involved with horses since she got her first pony at age 10. She has shown American Quarter Horses in many disciplines and competed in rodeos in the barrel rac- ing in High School and professionally.
Ms. Schonholtz serves as the Director of Industry Outreach for the Profes- sional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). In this position she handles all livestock welfare and relat- ed government relations for the association. Additional- ly, she oversees the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund and the youth outreach efforts. She is the President of the Animal Welfare Council, Vice President of the National Animal Interest
