Microscan Introduces Smallest Smart Camera

Renton, WA — Microscan has intro- duced the Vision MINI Xi industrial compact smart camera with embedded Ethernet. As part of the company's AutoVISION® machine vis ion product suite, this tiny powerhouse is packed with features for close-range industri- al auto ID, inspection, and other machine vision applications.

lated I/O — all in one compact pack- age. The camera can be used for robust inspection, color matching, symbol decoding, or OCR can count, while fitting into tight spaces in assembly line manufacturing and component tracking applications. It can handle dot peen marks on power- train components, laser markings on medical devices or PCBs, as well as traditional printed barcodes on pack- aging and labels. Coupled with the easy-to-use

The new device is said to be the

world's smallest fully-integrated smart camera with embedded Ether - net, measuring 1 x 1.8 x 2.1-in. (25.4 x 45.7 x 53.3mm) and weighing 3.2 oz (91 g). The Vision MINI Xi includes both Ethernet and serial connectivi- ty, a 24V interface, and optically iso-

AutoVISION machine vision software, the new camera provides an excellent solution for manufacturers who need to read barcodes, but require the flexi- bility to add more inspection capabili- ties to their processes using a single hardware device. All Microscan smart cameras run on the same vision soft- ware with easy job portability, or upgrade to the company's advanced Visionscape® platform — which has 50+ machine vision tools — without

Abreath offresh air in gross leak testing

CUI Intros New AC-DC Power Supplies

Tualatin, OR — CUI Inc. has intro- duced a new AC-DC power supply family targeting applications that demand 100 percent uptime. Avail - able in 75, 100, and 155W configura- tions, the PSF series is designed with built-in battery charging and back-up functionality. Under normal operat- ing conditions, the units are able to charge the stand-by battery and also supply direct power to the load. In the event of electrical power (AC) failure, the PSF series automatically switch es to DC power from the battery source to ensure continuous operation of the system. The PSF series accom -

modates a universal input voltage of 90 to 264VAC and is available in two dif- ferent output formats. The dual output version provides 13.8 and 27.6V; one output powers the load, while the other output is available to charge the battery. The triple output models include an additional 5V, 3A regulated output. The PSF series comes with built-in protection that adds a great deal of flexibility and decreased complexity for the system designer.

Protection includes

brownout (due to low AC input volt- age), battery low cut-off, and battery polarity by resettable fuse. These fea- tures are in addition to overload, out- put overvoltage, constant current limit, and short circuit protection. The series is available in form

factors that include open frame and enclosed versions, with or without a

Aven: 60-LED Ring Light in Stereo Zoom Scope

Ann Arbor, MI — A new illuminated microscope system has a 60-LED ring light as an embedded element of the focus mount. The combination adds one-piece

No more helium, fluorocarbons, or radioactive gases. Norcom 410 finds gross leaks fast with air pressure alone.

Fast, simple, clean and safe, the NorCom 410 is the all-electronic alternative to bubble leak testing. In seconds, it accurately detects open packages and gross leaks. In minutes, it reports actual leak rates. All without consumables, radioactive gases, or pollutants.

Call for a demonstration on your metal, ceramic, silcone, or glass-lidded devices and discover a fresh approach to leak testing.

convenience and practicality to Avens' most popular stereo zoom binocular scope, which now can be selected with illumination securely installed. The SPZ-50 model micro- scope offers a magnification range of 6.7x to 50x, or up to 200x with three optional lenses and eyepieces. According to the company, the

inclusive system treats the ring light as an integral component, rather than a screw-on accessory. This elim- inates any risk of damage from a loosened ring light dropping on prod- uct that is being inspected. The wide field of view and long

working distance make Avens' SPZ- 50 suited to high-volume inspection stations, R&D engineering labs and science applications. Precision lenses result in high-definition images from edge to-edge. Coarse and fine focus settings allow meticulous control. Five dozen white LEDs create a

shadow-free lighting intensity of 35,000 lux, assuring accuracy and crisp imaging. A dimmer control lets operators vary illumination and turn it off.

The SPZ-50 system includes a
