Garbsen, Germany — X-RAY WorX has developed an innovative internal cooling for microfocus trans- mission tubes of its new product line called "TCNF". The new technology reduces the movement of the focal spot by more than 90 percent compared to the previously used externally cooled tubes. Microfocus X-ray tube XWT-160-TCNF are
mainly used for highest resolution computed to- mography (CT) with resolutions less than 1µ. Typ- ical fields of application are R&D as well as the semiconductor industry. To achieve detailed and sharp high resolution cross-sections, it is very im- portant to maintain a stable focal spot position during the entire scanning time. The external cool- ing, which was previously developed by X-RAY WorX, already provided improved results com- pared to X-ray tubes without cooling. Now, the new internal cooling reduces movement of the focal spot by an additional 90 percent. Technically, the internal cooling
is implemented by cooling channels inside the coils of the electron optics. An active cooler ensures a constant temperature of the cooling agent. When working with resolutions of less

than 1µ, the movement of the focal spot is virtual- ly no longer measurable. Tests in the laboratory showed focal spot movements of less than 1µ over
a period of four hours. The setup used for the test- ing was optimized for vibration-free operation. The tube was operated at 100kV, 2.6 Watt target power and approximately 0.8µ resolution. In addition, TCNF X-ray tubes are equipped
with the new High Resolution Diamond Target, which ensures continuous stability of the target sur- face during long-term CT-scans. By using both the internal cooling and the High Resolution Diamond Target, the product line provides an excellent solu- tion for highest-resolution computed tomography applications requiring an extremely stable focal spot position and long-term stability during the scan. Vision System Waterloo, Ontario, Canada — Tele- dyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technolo- gies company, has expanded its GEVA family of multi-camera vision systems with the GEVA-312T. GEVA vision systems offer ease-of-use, per- formance and flexibility to meet the diverse requirements of industrial inspection, while accommodating the needs and experience of end users.
Multi-camera vision system. The GEVA-312T is a standalone
system with a built-in touch screen display that delivers flexibility and easy migration with multiple GigE ports. The camera is compatible with a wide range of GigE cameras, in- cluding the company's full range of Genie cameras. The GEVA-312T comes complete with a 12-in. touch screen display, 1.6GHz dual core processor and two Gigabit Ethernet camera ports for camera and net- work interfacing. Applications using one or two cameras can connect di- rectly to the Camera/LAN ports on the unit. Additional cameras can be accommodated using standard, low- cost Gigabit Ethernet switches. The slim-line form factor of the GEVA- 312T maximizes control panel real estate for PLCs, motions controllers
