new locomotive at Browns Yard in Sayreville, New Jersey, on the way home from work last November. It was slated for delivery the next morning. Joseph Kreiss’ article in the March


Military railroads I enjoyed Joseph Kreiss’ story on the McClellen Air Force Base railroad. The government-owned military railroads are largely kept from the public eye. 2014 RMC on the former McClellen Air Force Base railroad reminded me of the years (1989 to 2007) when I worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kit- tery, Maine. Located on an island in the Piscataqua River, it nevertheless had an extensive rail network used to service the ships there for refitting or overhaul. When I began working there, it had
