By Heather McLean The company behind scheduling and content lifecycle management solution WHATS’On, MediaGeniX, has stated that its new mini-playlist offering can open up new ad sales opportunities on video- on-demand (VoD) platforms that would otherwise remain out of reach for broadcasters. Mini playlist allows the planners of WHATS’On to create an individual playlist for every piece of on-demand content provided to platform providers, enabling the broadcaster to make money from advertising revenue. The user schedules promotions, commercials and even secondary events as if it were a single transmission on a linear channel using WHATS’On. Viacom’s MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central channels, as well as French media group Lagarder are already

Michel Beke, product director at MediaGeniX, stated: “VoD is still hard to monitise so we have been developing a mini-playlist complete package for branding and advertising that puts the broadcaster in control, not the platform operator.

A partnership has been announced at IBC between Piksel and Olympusat Telecom. The latter will resell Piksel’s online video platform (OVP), allowing Olympusat – said to be the largest pay-TV provider of Hispanic network and multiplatform video content in the US – to white- label the solution and forge new opportunities in the Americas. “We are pleased to formalise our partnership with Olympusat as an OVP reseller here at IBC,”

Gooseneck display solves T&M space dilemma


Hamlet has developed a multi-format test and measurement (T&M) device that is just 1U sized and features a high-resolution 7-inch IPS monitor on a gooseneck.


The DigiScope DS900G accepts up to six Hamlet 900 series modules and, because of its gooseneck, the screen can be positioned to suit the mode of operation. Available modules include analogue and digital input, SD, HD and 3G with looping SDI connections, and up to 16 channels of AES audio.
