In the lime light: d:fine is now available in lime green

An expanded line up of DPA’s d:fine headset microphones is on show today, all of which are said to offer impressive gain before feedback and very

stable construction. Designed to be unobtrusive, all models in the d:fine series are said to be easy to fit and provide presenters and guests with a discreet solution. DPA claims that the range is now renowned for its audio accuracy and its ability to deliver vocal intelligibility and

consistent audio performance at all SPLs. Available in both directional and omnidirectional options, in dual-ear designs and with long or short booms, the idea is that any d:fine headset mic fits comfortably and can be adjusted to accommodate any ear size and head shape.

According to DPA, d:fine is

easy to switch between right and left sides by rotating the boom and the earhooks. A new short, 4cm boom is available for the omnidirectional d:fine, which sits just below the earlobe, and is designed for applications where the mic

must not be visible on the face, but where high quality sound is paramount. d:fine is now available in lime green as well as black, beige or brown – each of which comes with a mounted makeup and moisture filter, five coloured ID rings and four windscreens. 8.D76

The Gemini Pan Bar Control System has made its first appearance at IBC with Shotoku’s lightweight TG-27 head, a combination that ‘is ideal for placing smaller cameras and lenses in locations where a cameraman could not conveniently, or safely, be positioned’. Shotoku claims that it

combines the ‘intuitive control and feel of the manual pan and tilt head with the convenience and capabilities of a remote head’, and offers total control over the speed and response profile. Other robotic products on

show include Shotoku’s TR-T control systems, controlling multiple cameras and sharing camera operation across several controller-types, and its

Orchestra CMS parliamentary systems, which are fully automated and have live video touch-screen operation. The TG-27 pan & tilt head is also regarded as well suited to these applications and it is being shown under the control of the TR-S panel. 11.F40

Lawo is showing its mc²66 console, which boasts 888 DSP channels and 144 summing buses along with top quality signal processing. Following an agreement on loudness standards, the ‘Loudness War’ has been brought to an end, and according to Lawo, it is already on the case when it comes to implementing these standards: all of the manufacturer's mc² consoles can now boast integrated loudness metering, complying fully with the EBU/R128 and ATSC/A85 requirements.
