Just in time for Thanksgiving, learn how Victorians prepared their holiday meals. Explore the Blodgett’s kitchen, and learn about the trials and tribulations of 19th century cookery. This class is for one adult and one child. No siblings please.

Explore Historic Main Street Cemetery in the evening. Tour the graveyard and enjoy stories and little known facts about the people buried in the Main Street Cemetery. Families enjoy a fun hands-on activity. Please register one adult and then list the names and ages of your household members who will attend.

During the month of October, youth groups and scout groups may book special tours of Downers Grove’s local cemeteries - Main Street Cemetery, Oak Hill and Oak Crest Cemetery and the Pierce Downer Burial Site. Tours can be tailored for any age group. Tours can accommodate up to 20 participants, but a minimum of 10 is required. Fees will apply. Tours are held outdoors, may last up to three hours, require walking and groups must provide their own transportation; please plan accordingly. Call the Museum office at 630.963.1309 to book your tour.
Cemetery Walk for Kids
Explore Historic Main Street Cemetery and enjoy a hands-on activity for kids. Tour the graveyard and learn the importance of tombstones and the information they provide. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. This program may fulfill some scout badge requirements.

Downers Grove’s Historic Cemetery Tour Explore all of Downers Grove’s cemeteries, which include the Downer Family Burial Place, Oak Hill, Oak Crest and Main Street Cemeteries. Learn their unique history and about the people buried there. Meet at the Museum to disembark and receive information. Dress for the weather. Comfortable footwear is required. Washroom facilities may be unavailable for extended periods of time.
