Athletics Shotokan Karate


Learn the martial art of Japanese Karate taught by instructors from the Illinois Shotokan Karate Club under the direction of four-time National Champion and U.S. Karate National Coach John DiPasquale. Participants gain discipline, confidence, flexibility and stamina as well as learning self-defense. Punches, blocks and kicks are covered in these classes. No class November 30. 

Note: Uniforms and belt testing are available through the ISKC Instructor.


Pre-Karate (4 to 7 years)


Young children will develop agility, strength and coordination skills through fun and creative activities. This program, specifically designed to work with growing minds and bodies, enhances memory and agility skills, too. Watch your child blossom while learning karate and having a blast at the same time! No class November 30.

Youth Karate (8 to 14 years)


Karate skills put children in touch with their bodies and helps to build coordination, agility, strength and poise, as well as establishes lasting personal safety skills. The mental aspect of karate is equal to if not greater than the physical. Practicing this art results in increased self-esteem, in addition to enhancing discipline and control. No class November 30.
