programmes, of which Lily is not a supporter. “For me,” she explains, “anything labelled ‘diet’ makes me think of the words ‘restriction’, ‘tasteless’ and ‘relapse’! It’s better to explore the endless flavour combinations of natural foods to create delicious healthy dishes, which is what we do at the Detox Kitchen.” Lily also gives some useful advice about the way we eat. “Don’t deny yourself the wonderful flavour sensations of a less healthy treat,” she advises. “Just develop the ability to eat mindfully and savour every morsel of the food.” It is clear that Lily finds a lot of joy in food and wants to share this with her customers. Her enthusiasm is definitely infectious! Nutritionist Rob is also very passionate about the Detox Kitchen and explains his background as a registered nutritionist who has worked with many different companies and with the media over the years. In addition to the Detox Kitchen, he also sees private clients out of a practice in
Knightsbridge and has a company, HOPE nutrition, which specialises in educating those who care for older people with dementia about the ways to provide the correct nutrition for maintaining the good health and dignity of their patients. When it comes to the Detox Kitchen, Rob’s input is very important. “I work closely with Lily to nutritionally balance the menu plans and develop our recipes so we can achieve the very best nutrition possible for our clients. Cutting out food groups is not advisable without professional advice to help you replace the nutrients that you have excluded from the diet, which is where I step in.” When asked about his top tips for good nutrition, Rob provides some concise advice. “Eat as many different foods as you possibly can,” he starts. “Variety is key. Load up on fruit and vegetables, especially dark green ones,” he stresses. “And don’t forget your weekly dose of oily fish!” When asked about their extensive celebrity
following, Lily lights up. “We are very lucky to have had lots of celebrities book our detox. Jo Wood said that our food tasted fabulous, which was amazing coming from her as she lives by an organic diet and loves vegetarian food. And Rachel Stevens said that she was actually excited to open her package every morning to see what delicious goodies were inside. Tese are the types of things we love to hear!” Excitingly, Lily also
reveals some of the company’s other plans for the future and they include pop-up restaurants and the launch of their online shop where you can buy their tasty homemade muesli. Lily also tells us that they will be holding several cooking classes in the New Year and even writing a cookbook! “We want to continue to grow our brand in Central London and just keep producing good quality, healthy, delicious food,” she explains. Well, we want that too Lily and we can’t wait to see the cookbook!
