The Everton Experience
Everton Football Club hosted Sunderland on a sunny Saturday afternoon in November and Matthew Specter was invited along to sample the most exclusive corporate entertainment that Goodison Park has to off er, an executive box for the day
U
pon arriving at the ground a few hours before the traditional 3pm kick off , we were shown to our private box, which can comfortably
fi t up to ten people and were instantly greeted by extremely friendly and attentive catering staff who provided us with champagne along with a large selection of other complimentary aperitifs. It is immediately striking upon entering the executive boxes just how close they are situated to the pitch. T ey are like no other in the Premiership in terms of being in the heart of the action. Yes, Old Traff ord or the Emirates Stadium, for example, are more modern stadia therefore provide corporate hospitality on a grander scale yet the personalization off ered by executive boxes at Goodison would surely swing a neutral to choose what is on off er here. T e private balcony seats make you feel as if you are in the dugout with David Moyes himself and from this aspect there is no doubting that the

Everton experience is wonderfully unique. T e four course lunch menu had lots of
variety off ering fi sh, meat and vegetarian options. T e Goodison catering staff are clearly very experienced in providing for a large number of corporate clientele with each course arriving effi ciently. A real highlight was the fi llet steak, cooked to an extremely high standard, which would rival similar dishes off ered in some of the top restaurants around the city. T e Champagne continued to fl ow throughout the meal and the box’s personal waitress could not do enough. T e service was truly excellent. With kick off minutes away we took our seats in the spacious private balcony seating area awaiting the familiar sound of the Z-Cars theme tune to welcome the players out. Unfortunately, the fi rst half did not go as planned and Everton trailed 0-1 at half time. We re-entered the box with looks of desolation which soon disappeared
when yet more champagne was served! T is provided the catalyst for optimism upon taking our seats for the second half and the Toff ees duly delivered, producing a fi ne comeback to win the match 2-1 and sending the ten of us present into complete rapture. Champagne football. Finally, we were greeted by the resident,
family friendly Everton magician following the game who provided light hearted entertainment whilst we fi nished off our last few drinks. T is proved that there really is something for everyone within the Everton corporate box sphere. Whether you are purchasing an executive box for family entertainment or for business use to woo present and potential clients, you can be sure that your requirements will be met to the highest of standards. After all, as the famous Everton Latin-inspired motto (Nil Satis Nisi Optimism) translates, nothing but the best is good enough.
