KingsHill Dance Holidays

Fun, fun, fun is the description that KingsHill use to describe their Line dance weekend breaks. Founded by John and Barbara King and Ron Hill in 2000, the company specialises in dance breaks for Line Dancers and sequence dancers, offering the largest programme of holidays for each type of dancing available in Britain.

John King comes from a travel background and has been organising holidays since 1964 so he is more than qualified when it comes to hosting fabulous events. Line Dancing is now done to a wide range of music and mostly follows a non-country theme. KingsHill Holidays, where the leaders have always been encouraged to take requests, have stayed in tune with the times and play whatever their audience wants, whether that be country, pop or even rock. Their latest innovation is a series of themed “Party Time Breaks” at some of the larger hotels used by the company where,

amongst other features there will be dedicated seats in the dance room.

KingsHill has always tried to make sure that it offers a very wide choice in its programme from resorts, hotels, leaders, artistes and more recently choreographers. It is able, through its many contacts in the travel business, to offer some very competitive prices and excellent value for money. The company has tended to concentrate on venues where their customers could dance, eat and sleep under one roof and with very few exceptions, have stuck closely to that policy. These venues range in size from 40 to 600 plus dancers, most of them have leisure facilities and all have excellent dancing facilities.

Throughout its 12 year life, Kingshill has made many friends with organisers of groups as it recognised very early on that the Line Dance fraternity tended to book in groups of anything from 6 to 70 and

felt that those who did the work to put the groups together should be rewarded with generous discounts. They are looked after with great care.

John says, “One of the elements of operating a successful holiday programme is ensuring that the administration side of the business functions perfectly and that things are well organised, right down to the last detail. Although we still do most of the bookings by phone and we are well known for our friendly, helpful staff. We also have a very sophisticated computer system, linked to the KingsHill website, which allows customers to make bookings securely online, check availability or order a brochure. He adds, “Shortly, there will be further developments which will allow dance teachers to access information especially written for them, an option for customers to review holidays they have taken and offer opinions about the hotels and there will be a gallery of pictures
