(September 2000 – Page 25) Cover 44 - June

Our 4th Birthday bonanza features newcomer a very young Rachael McEnaney.

Our covers were now simpler, sleeker and though we could not resist trying out as many fonts as we could on our readers, we had started on a much more modern approach visually at least!

This’ll never catch on Dear Dancers…

“…If you don’t have a computer you may think, what relevance is the Internet to me? Reliable fi gures tell us about 18% of the UK population already have access to the Internet and this number increases by about 11000 people each day. It wont be long before you will have access to the Internet using your TV set. Mobile phones allowing Internet access are on the market. A major UK bank already offers their customers this technology. With an estimated 180 million people world-wide accessing the Internet on PCs, and 350 million mobile phone users, Internet access will be available to you in one form or another, like it or not. So what can you expect from our website? One priority is to offer a searchable onLine dance database…..Exciting multimedia opportunities abound and our dilemma is which one to seize fi rst. We’d like to invite you to share in our new venture by visiting the Linedancer Magazine website. The new millennium promises to be a

technologically rich period, with many things possible that previously existed only in people’s imaginations. (Steve Brereton – Linedancer Web Manager – January 2000)

CBA Report

A full 12 page report on the fourth major event was featured in April 2000. Here are some excerpts…

“…After whittling down the 16 nominees, it (Dance Track Of The Year) was to be Now I Can Dance by Tina Arena the theme to Michael Vera-Lobos Into the Arena that took the prize … the Country Line dance Artist of the Year Award went to Scooter Lee.

This award comes on top of her recent win at the Spirit of Europe Music Awards in Berlin. And with all the tour dates she puts in throughout her year, who can argue with her collection of trophies?…. Dave Sheriff presented Rob Fowler with UK Instructor of the Year. Rob has won this award every time it has been presented and his popularity remains enormous….. The winner of (Dance Of The Year) this award was Stockport teenager, Liam Hrycan for his dance Pot Of Gold. There was huge applause as the unassuming Liam was cheered to the stage to receive his award from Linedancer’s own Betty Drummond….
