To celebrate the year of the Jubilee and the Olympics the ‘Jubilympic’ Line dance theme was red white and blue. And wow! Did the dancers go all out with their outfits. 195 dancers turned up to the Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport for the twice yearly event run by the Allied Dancing Association. Together with the raffle £507 was raised and is being donated to Woodlands

Hospice in Fazakerley, Liverpool. Hospice representative Carol Rigby kindly came along to explain where the money will be used and to thank everyone for their support. The president of the Allied, Chris Booth, presented prizes for best outfit and best decorated table. Lynda from Lynda’s Stompers says: “ I am pleased to say, with the numbers that turned up, this

beautiful venue is unfortunately too small for our next event in March. So please watch this space as we will be looking for a more suitable and larger dance floor. We have listened to all the comments and will strive to accomodate and “do better next time”. Thank you to everyone who attended and to all the helpers We still had a great day.”

Line dance teacher Nick and his lovely wife Alison celebrating the 15th anniversary of our club Oakland Mavericks. It was held at the Thingwall Recreation Centre where we have our classes,” Sandy Keys writes. “We had such a good time. We had a Jacob’s table, a free raffle and a charity collection. Nick and Alison provided the disco and a delicious cake. Potty gave a small speech and presented a card and gift from the dancers. Best of all was lots of happy people

Line dancing. What more could you ask for. Please thank Nick and Alison for all their work. Keeping us happy and up to date with all the Line dances, arranging socials and weekends away. We do appreciate them. Even though some of his dancers have been known to throw comments while he is teaching. All done in the best possible taste of course.” Here’s hoping Oakland Mavericks will continue being successful for a very long time to come.
