Fascinating features at UK’s leading international franchise event
“T
his event has been really valuable in helping me learn about franchising and the structure of the industry. I now know a lot more than I did when
I arrived,” comments Raymond Schonfeld, a renewable energy specialist from Brussels and visitor to a previous franchise event. Raymond’s comments echo the feedback from many who have found the annual London exhibition a useful way to research the industry.
The British & International Franchise Exhibition, the UK’s leading international franchise event, provides a wealth of business opportunities and interesting features to enable budding franchisees to fi nd out more about how to run a successful franchise business. The exhibition is returning to London’s Olympia on 16 & 17 March and will present an opportunity to meet with over 100 exhibitors, spanning industries such as food and drink, fi nance, property, home care and travel, plus a range of educational features, all under one roof.
A useful starting point for many visitors, particularly those who are new to the industry, is the Careers Clinic. This is the place to head to for those who need help defi ning their talents and career goals before seeking the right franchise for them. Career experts from Personal Career Management will help visitors benchmark their skills and discuss options to create a clear, focused and realistic career plan. Another popular feature at the event is the Franchisee Panel, where visitors can fi nd out
about the transition from employee to business owner from the franchisees themselves. The panel will cover their personal experience, offering true stories, anecdotes and advice. The Business Plan Clinic, facilitated by Franchise Finance, will have experts on hand to guide you through your fi nancial plans, giving particular help on producing this essential document. The key to success in raising fi nance lies in the business plan, understanding a lender’s underwriting criteria and ‘the principals of lending’ and applying this to the individual circumstances of a franchisee, within the parameters of the franchise model, and is a skilled process. The Business Plan Clinic will assist visitors in making an application to maximise their chances of successfully raising the fi nance they require. Visitors with a large amount of capital to invest can have valuable conversations with franchised companies at the High Investment VIP Lounge. Sponsored by Platinum Property Partners and Papa John’s, this feature enables people to meet and network, whilst being able to keep in touch with the offi ce through complimentary Wi-Fi.

Children’s Activity Centre is a hive of activity. The award-winning Creation Station is hosting an Exploration Class of arts and craft fun for children and their parents. It’s a great opportunity for you explore the exhibition while your partner keeps the little ones entertained.

to the 2012 British & International Franchise Exhibition at London Olympia – an ideal show to gain an in-depth understanding of franchising, the companies involved and what your next steps may be.
Over the last year we have seen many companies across the UK suffer and, as a result, many redundancies and uncertainty regarding the future. Yet time and again, whether in tough or prosperous times, franchising comes through as a robust and successful business model.
This prosperous industry however, is not the result of luck or good fortune, but of many years’ development, hard work and dedication to good business practice and ethics. A franchise is a partnership between the franchisor and franchisee and both must be committed for the result to be truly successful.
Please make sure that you make the most of this exhibition by talking to as many of the franchisor exhibitors and professional advisors as possible. If you are looking to change your future today, or are just doing your research, you will fi nd what you need here.
