Yorba Linda, CA — B&K Precision has introduced two new digital stor- age oscilloscopes (DSO) and com- pletely refreshed its DSO portfolio. These new oscilloscopes, models 2540B and 2542B, offer bandwidths of 60MHz and 100MHz respectively with 1GSa/s sampling rates. Both models are equipped with significant upgrades over their predecessors and provide technical schools and service repair shops with an even more cost- effective solution. Two notable upgrades

include deep memory up to 2.4Mpts and a built-in LAN interface. The deep memory feature lets users capture more waveform data while maintaining high sample rates over a longer period of time — useful for various applications requiring high waveform resolution for sin- gle-shot waveform captures. The addition of the stan-

dard LAN interface to the DSO’s RS-232 and USB ports provides users with another method of remote PC connectivity through Comsoft PC software or SCPI com- mands, as well as the ability to cap- ture screenshots with a web browser. According to the company, the LAN interface can be a valuable tool in an educational setting by allowing instructors and students to easily view the oscilloscope’s display using a web browser. Continuing the trend of the

company’s recent ‘scope develop- ments, the two new instruments both improve over previous models with a

lightweight and more portable form factor. Both models have a bright 5.7-in. (145mm) color display and offer powerful tools such as pulse width, video and slope triggering, digital filtering, waveform recorder, pass/fail testing, and automatic measurements to help debug circuits. These DSOs also provide FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) and math func- tions to add, subtract, and multiply input channels. Novice and experi- enced users alike will benefit from

Cognex Intros 1st Wireless Industrial ID Reader

Natick, MA — Cognex Corporation has introduced a new wireless ver- sion for its next-generation Data - Man® handheld industrial ID scan- ner, the DataMan 8000 series. The new wireless communication module and base station with Cognex Connect™ capabilities is now avail- able for users with extended range cord-free code reading applications. Cognex Connect reportedly pro-

vides the most flexibility for communi- cating via Industrial Proto cols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, MC Protocol and others in addition to traditional support for USB and RS-232. The DataMan 8000 series is the only industrial handheld ID reader to support industrial proto- cols for both corded and cordless models, allowing for easy integra- tion, reduced installation costs and remote access to diagnostics. The new wireless reader pro-

vides a long working range — up to 100m — with a large memory capacity for reading codes when offline or out of range. The base sta- tion comes standard with a spare battery charger built in and is com- patible with industry standard Ethernet, USB and RS-232 cables. Common to all DataMan 8000

series models is the system’s special modular design allowing any reader to change between corded RS- 232/USB communication to Indus - trial Ethernet or to wireless with field exchangeable interface mod- ules. The communication modules offer security for customer invest- ment as well as flexibility enabling users to modify their deployment and

communication methods to meet future requirements. The base sta- tion for the wireless model is equipped with separate communica- tion ports for USB, RS-232 and Ethernet options, making it the most versatile choice in the series. The rugged series is designed for the fac- tory floor and offers the industry’s most advanced code reading technol- ogy using two powerful algorithms, 1DMax™ and 2DMax™. These pat -

ented technologies provide the most advanced decoding available for reading virtually every type of code, every time, with unsurpassed read rates, regardless of size, quality, printing method or surface. The sys- tem also offers liquid lens variable focus technology that allows a user to read small 2-D direct part marks (DPM) as well as long linear 1-D bar-

codes with a single reader. Contact: Cognex Corp., One
