Toms River, NJ — New from Heyco Products, Inc. are its Heyco®-Tite Hybrid Liquid Tight Cordgrips with PG or Metric Hubs. For use in clear- ance or threaded holes, the Cordgrips provide the durability of a nickel-plat- ed brass enclosure with drastically lower installed cost and more secure wire gripping with a nylon finger design. Hybrid Cordgrips make it pos- sible to insert different diameters of cable in the same cable gland easily, with flexibility, and with a good seal. Available in multiple sizes for


flexible cord diameters ranging from 0.04 to 2.17-in. (1.0 to 55.0mm), the movable articulated fingers provide large clamping and sealing areas for secure and flexible everyday use. Upon tightening the compression nut of the cordgrip, the segmented finger design compresses around the gland and wire to provide a torsion-proof seal. The Cordgrips are IP68 rated,

Ticona’s Vectra Used to Make 3D Chip Carrier


Sulzbach, Germany — Ticona’s Vectra LCP liquid crystal polymer has been specially developed for elec- tronic circuits on 3-D injection mold- ings produced with a Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) process. Newest application of the product is in a joint effort of 2E mechatronic GmbH and Co. KG. ponent is injection molded entirely from Vectra E840i LDS, a laser-acti- vated grade that Ticona specially developed for use with the LPKF Laser and Electronics AG LDS process. The tracks on the 12-by-10- by-6-millimeter device are etched with LPKF laser equipment that selectively activates the laser-sensi- tive additive in the Ticona LCP. Vectra E840i LDS, the newest MID specialty grade from Ticona, is


40 percent mineral filled with special LDS additive; it is reflow solderable, and is more isotropic than typical glass-filled LCP. According to the company, Vectra E840i LDS enables efficient production of 3-D chip carri- ers when using the LDS process. Specific areas of the component are activated by LPKF laser to create a circuit pattern that is subsequently electrolysis plated to form conductive tracks.


The advantage of this process is
