Sonobond Ultrasonic
West Chester, PA — Sonobond’s SeamMaster™ High Profile Ultra - sonic Bonder uses a rotary system for rapid ultrasonic sealing, sewing, and trimming of synthetic fabrics. Its production speeds are up to four

uses a large wheel with a high clear- ance above the bench to provide fast, easy access for bulky materials and hand-guided operations. The result — this Sonobond
ultrasonic bonder is suitable for seal- ing the outer nylon shell of body armor to protect the ballistic-resist- ant material inside. Seams bonded by this machine are so perfectly fused and sealed that they pass the current National Institute of Justice (NIJ) submersion tests imposed by NIJ-0101.06. These latest standards for wet
conditioning require protection from submersion for 30 minutes, rather than protection from a spray shower. The company offers another

times faster than conventional sewing machines and 10 times faster than adhesive methods. Fraying or unraveling of bonded edges and seams are virtually eliminated. Similar in general appearance
to traditional sewing machines, the SeamMaster High Profile Bonder
machine that makes the assembly of body armor faster, easier, and more cost-effective. The SureWeld™ 20 PlungeBonder™ is powerful and able to seal large, multiple-layer or difficult-to-bond materials. The entire process is energy-efficient and
environmentally-friendly. Contact: Sonobond Ultrasonics,

Schaumburg, IL — Heidenhain is intro ducing the latest version of its PC-based QUADRA-CHEK Metro - logy software providing advanced functionality for inspection measure- ment machines. This software makes it possi-
ble to conveniently perform 2-D and 3-D measuring tasks in the field of metrology when standard DRO products will not suffice. Labeled the IK5000 version
2.96, this powerful inspection package builds upon the original Metronics QUADRA-CHECK QC - 5000 software by introducing new functionality such as 3D profiling capabilities that can provide measurement and graphic evalua- tion of 3-D contours using multi- sensor and tactile measuring machines. This new option, used for
profile measurements, is able to import a 3D CAD file (either STEP or IGES) and compare it with the actual measured part. Part programming improvements were added to support compensation for the thermal behavior of products that experience a shrinkage or growth of material during the manu- facturing process. This will allow users to write a single inspection program for measuring parts with materials having a known growth or shrink rate throughout the manufac- turing process.
Improvements were also added
to currently existing Radial and Palletize methods of automatic part programming routines. These meth- ods are designed to help users when there are common features or parts that repeat angularly, around a

based on the angle they are located around the datum or in reference to a linear layout. The new palletize grid function-
ality will also allow the user to graphically select which parts in the grid are required for measurement, and only run the program in those locations. The new software will now also
offer compatibility for PCs using Windows 7 (32-bit) operating systems
as well as Windows XP and Vista®. Contact: Heidenhain Corp., 333

Fujipoly Offering Tech Info Videos
Carteret, NJ — Fujipoly America has launched a You Tube channel that will provide engineers with 24/7 access to useful technical information on Thermal Interface Materials and Elastomeric Connectors. The com- pany’s first video post includes a demonstration of how to properly select a thermal gap filler material for a specific application. Applications Engineer Chris -
tian Miraglia, walks viewers through a step-by-step example that analyzes spacing tolerances, material compression, power den- sity, thermal resistance, tempera- ture gradient and optimal materi- al selection. To watch the video, go directly to
YouTube.com and search for Fujipoly America, or use this link:
