TRACK TECHNOLOGY

The Tiltrotator improves rotational handling, as producer Engcon explains. D

esigned to maximise the productivity of core machines, the Tiltrotator, pro-

duced by Engcon, optimises the functional- ity of all road-rail machines.

With the Tiltrotator, deposits are no long- er limited to the rotation of the arm and bucket; the head allows operators to turn a bucket 360°, allowing materials to be precisely placed. The Quattro Group use machines fitted with ballast flatteners and ploughs to direct materials into position, leaving neat track, quickly and effectively.

A Tiltrotator’s improved rotational handling simplifies the precise placement of any load. If required to reposition a signalling post, the attachment allows for rotation of 360° - when working in an enclosed area this is particularly useful, allowing even large items to be handled safely and without damage to the surrounding environment.

The Tiltrotator also simplifies complex maintenance works. The Quattro Group

utilise Tiltrotators to work alongside high- output ballast cleaning systems - the fit- ment allows operators to dig at angles up to 90° either side and in-between the tracks, creating entry and exit holes for the under- cutter bar to follow on.

Work is often limited to track direction, sometimes leaving operators struggling to manoeuvre machines into the best angle for work. The attachment allows opera- tors to access hard-to-reach areas, and as a modified machine is able to reach both sides of a double track without overstretch-

The Quattro Group often utilise modified excavation machines to work on line-side drainage. Operators can excavate whilst re- maining mounted on the line, allowing the excavation of straight and level trenches. Any cant in the track is compensated for by tilting the bucket; Tiltrotators boast double-acting tilt cylinders, which allow for optimised tilting force. The valve block is located in the lower section, reducing the risk of crushing and bending damage, thus helping reduce shearing forces and simpli- fy excavations.

Designed to complement all RRVs, from 1.5 ton to 32 tons, the Tiltrotator can dramati- cally enhance the performance and versa- tility of any fleet.
