Garrandale outline their development during a diffi cult period for the nation’s rail companies. Stand A02 T

he last two years have seen many changes to the rail services landscape.

Some companies have ceased trading, leav- ing behind unfulfi lled service contracts on equipment. Foreign companies have with- drawn to easier markets and we see wash equipment manufacturers specialising in car and bus machines claiming that wash- ing trains is no different. This is a disturb- ing point of view, when you consider the combined factors of soil types, vehicle pro- fi les, crevices and paint lifespan.

From out of this unpromising situation the Garrandale company had the courage and commitment to pick up the pieces by restoring service contracts on other manu- facturers’ equipment, reshaping inherited work procedures to give customers better value for money, and attracting the cream of the industry’s experts to the Garrandale team.

With an unrivalled level of knowledge and competency, in the space of 18 months Garrandale has become the largest single provider of trackside and depot installation and maintenance services in the UK.

The recent installation of a wash plant at Orient Way Olympic Park for Birse Rail went smoothly and is now poised to receive the largest amount of traffi c in such a short time span as never before seen in this coun- try. When Olympics visitors are comparing the presentation of our rolling stock with their own country’s, it’s reassuring to know that the wash installation was conducted by the cream of the industry and is main- tained by them too.

Garrandale have a 30-year pedigree in the rail industry and of late, that reputation has improved further by result of the ‘can do’ attitude that affords customer project managers the confi dence that the company does what it says.

Garrandale’s modern plant has over 7,000m2

of manufacturing space compris-

ing specialist welding, fabrication, heat treatment, machining and assembly facili- ties plus a laser cutting facility which gives greater repeatability in a vast range of fer- rous and non ferrous fabrication materials.

From simple brackets, fi ttings and widg- ets to high-specifi cation, safety-critical components for the transportation, petro-

chemical, oil and gas industries, they are an engineering company like no other.

Garrandale don’t contract work out be- cause of the excellent in-house team of industry specialists skilled in all electro- mechanical disciplines. From this position the company’s target prize is to be the pre- ferred partner for rail industry engineering projects.

Garrandale have the fl exibility to adapt to the needs of customers, to draw upon their extensive experience to design and deliver elegant solutions to meet every engineer- ing need, from simple fabrications to high specifi cation, safety critical components for the transportation industries on time, all within budget.

Approvals and customer testimonials can indicate capability, but deciding on a part- ner is best achieved through meeting them face to face.
