Why study health studies

at Essex? BSc Health Studies This course will suit you if you are interested in an academic understanding of how people work within health care, but do not want to fix a specific health career path yet.

What does the

course involve? The course covers a range of approaches to the person with a special focus on health, health behaviours and the social context of health. It distinguishes between natural and social conceptions of health and illness, illustrating scientific (biomedical), social (public health, psychosocial) and comparative cultural perspectives on health, healing and health care.
