Meet our sponsors Abellio Group
Abellio operates passenger rail and bus services in the UK and Germany, and bus services in the Czech Republic. Public transport, by its very nature, exists to serve communities, and this is recognised in our vision: ‘Delivering public transport services that improve lives in the communities we serve’
Abellio helps people achieve the small but essential tasks of everyday life – getting to work and school on time, visiting friends, going shopping, accessing services. Our train services link major cities with small towns; our bus services help thousands of people every day to make their journeys. We don’t, however, just want to provide
ATA Rail
As a specialist provider of enhanced recruitment solutions to the rail sector, ATA Rail is proud to be sponsoring the Rail Business Manager of the Year Award for a third year. ATA Rail is pleased to continue to support the recognition of excellence in the rail industry, reflecting its own commitment to providing services that allow businesses to achieve distinction. Specialising in the provision of permanent and temporary personnel, ATA Rail holds a high level of sector specific expertise, enabling the facilitation of a comprehensive recruitment process supporting technical, engineering and commercial activities of rolling stock design, manufacture, operations and maintenance. ATA Rail has built a solid niche market business, developing relationships with manufacturers, train operating companies, consultancies and main contractors. As part of the RTC Group, the depth
and breadth of skill and resources within the group allow ATA Rail to offer bespoke solutions across its divisions. Group members ATA Rail and Ganymede Solutions have each achieved an exemplary reputation within rail, and offer clients the ability to source candidates, prepare them through comprehensive training, and then deploy competent and skilled staff into the market. ATA Rail draws upon the full group network of regional offices to support delivery to all clients across the UK. The company’s extensive candidate database, built organically in-house, gives clients access to engineering, technical and managerial talent internal and external to the rail market place. Additionally, its extensive advertising budget for intensely targeted online advertising and regular attendance at sector specific events, ensures that its candidate pool is continually updated, allowing us to identify both active and passive job seekers.

ATA Rail provides its clients with cost-
effective innovative solutions, matching candidates to the technical and cultural fit of the client company, and tackling any skills gaps through training. The broad range of capability within the group, coupled with a bespoke, rather than ‘off the peg’, approach to solutions, ensures each individual client receives increased added value. The RTC Group continues to invest in the
future of the rail sector, whether via organic or acquisition-based means or by participating in and sponsoring industry initiatives. Scott Bulloch, head of operations at ATA Rail, says: ‘When the opportunity arose to once again sponsor the category of Rail Business Manager of the Year, it was not a difficult decision to make. The recognition of excellence in performance is a virtue that we hold dear within our own organisation, and I very much look forward to presenting the award to the worthy winner on the night.’
a service to the community – we want to be part of the community. Working together in partnership is a fundamental commitment of Abellio, as reflected in our Mission: ‘Working in partnership every day to
consistently exceed our passenger and stakeholder expectations.’ Abellio encourages initiatives like station
partnerships and station adoption, which enable local people to get involved in shaping their services. We also seek to work with the relevant bodies and agencies to achieve better results, whether it is with the British Transport Police to improve safety and security, or an organisation like Age UK to improve access for specific groups.
The strategic importance of our activities to our parent company Netherlands Railways also guarantees support for continued growth in our target countries, as well as bringing access to the knowledge and expertise gained from operating the Dutch transport system. The CyclePoint in Leeds is a recent and excellent example. Based on the very best facilities for cyclists at Dutch railways stations, CyclePoint is a unique service offering, which will encourage passengers to make cycling part of their regular journey. CyclePoint embodies the essence of
Abellio’s partnership approach to delivering services that improve the lives of those in the communities we serve.
