support to its portfolio in nine European
countries. The
distributor will be offering the suite in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, with a specific focus on the business sector. “Today's announcement is a strong testament to Ingram Micro's commitment to drive growth in the
telecommunications segment,” said Ingram Micro EMEA’s president Alain Macquet.
ENTATECH CREATES IPHONE AND IPOD APP EntaTech has launched an application that allows customers to place orders using Apple’s iPod or iPhone devices. The app also offers a scanning facility – once a product’s barcode is scanned the price can be viewed along with the amount of stock available. Jon Atherton, commercial group vice president, said: "We pride ourselves on distributing IT innovation, it is only right that we use technology to improve how we deliver our service.”
CMI SNAPS UP BITDEFENDER BitDefender has signed a deal with CMI, which will see the value added security distributor offering BitDefender’s business solutions and security suites to resellers. Simon Geach, BitDefender sales director for the UK and Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to conclude a new agreement with CMI. They have the partner base we want to reach out to and support and they have the value added skills and commitment to help us take our sales with our partners in the business market to the next level.”
SERIF BROADENS ITS REACH Serif is bringing its design, publishing and creative software to the corporate market across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The move is due to a new agreement between Ingram Micro and Avanquest, the publisher of Serif’s German-language titles. Small and medium businesses across the region will now have access to PagePlus, PhotoPlus,

DrawPlus, WebPlusand Digital Scrapbook Artist. All titles will also continue to be available in retail outlets through Avanquest.
STELJES SIGNS AQUALITE Distributor Steljes has signed an agreement with AquaLite Outdoor to offer its full range of purpose built, large format, weatherproof LCD displays. Martine Dodwell- Bennett, Steljes group sales and business development director, said: “AquaLite screens complement our current displays from NEC, Panasonic and SMART, and our screen enclosures from SMS, enabling our customers to take their message anywhere they want. We will be offering the products through our sales channels and they will also be available for rental customers for shorter-term requirements.”
CONNECT SAYS HELLO Connect has launched a ‘Golden Hello’ package aimed at persuading channel partners to switch to the business continuity firm. The package offers a on- off payment for any resellers or developers storing more than 1TB of data for their customers. “As the number of clients backing up increases, so too does the cost of hardware, licenses, and maintaining the entire infrastructure. This Golden Hello package has been specifically designed to address this growing challenge for resellers,” said Connect CEO Mark MacGregor.
Midwich acquires Ubiqz
STONE BECOMES APPLE CERTIFIED
Stone has been granted Apple Solutions Expert in Education status, in recognition of its work as a reseller and a consultant on product applications. The agreement will see Stafford-based Stone offer the full Apple range to its clients, as well as consultancy to schools and colleges. “We are delighted to announce that Stone will be supplying Apple products to its UK education clients,” said Stone CEO James Bird. “This arrangement represents a move by to Stone offer a more consultative approach.”
MIDWICH HAS bought specialist security hardware distributor Ubiqz for an unspecified sum, in a move that broadens the Norfolk firm’s reach and product portfolio. The acquired company will continue to
be run by current general manager Anand Subbiah, who said of the deal: “The acquisition of Ubiqz will give Midwich a firm foothold in the security market with access to top brands and specialist knowledge and expertise. As the specialist security division of the Midwich Group, Ubiqz can offer a unique service proposition that combines the technical knowledge and understanding of a specialist security distributor with the logistical capabilities and financial strength of a larger parent company.”
