SOFTWARE  GAMES 2011 2011 hit list
These are some of the most hotly anticipated titles expected to be released this year. Some are steadily on course for launch while others have been delayed from last year, either way these titles are eagerly awaited by fans and can provide an avenue for hardware upgrades too...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Release Date: November 11
BETHESDA has created one of the most popular RPG series with Elder Scrolls, and the latest is being developed on a brand new engine, developed in house, ditching what some saw as the slightly wobbly Gamebryo. Details are currently very sketchy, but a fantasy/medieval setting will provide all the sword slashing and magic based fun we’ve come to expect.
Rage Release Date: September 13
USING ITS new powerful Tech5engine, the firm claims Rageis an all new take on the FPS genre. If it were anyone else behind it, this could be dismissed as PR hyberbole, but developer Id has been at the forefront of FPS games since the first Wolfenstein hit the shelves back in 1992. Rageis set in a post apocalyptic world, where various scientists, politicians and other worthy types have been frozen underground to help rebuild civilization another day. The central character emerges from his malfunctioning chamber as the sole survivor, and goes about trying to avoid the hordes of mutants that now inhabit the surface. Expect lots of racing action as well as shooting.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Release Date: April 2011
THE ORIGINAL Deus Exis widely celebrated as one of the best and most influential PC games of all time. After a slightly less well received sequel, the franchise is making a much anticipated return with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Adam Jensen is a man cybernetically augmented against his will, who has to battle other androidy types as he unravels a global conspiracy. Multiple plot paths are at the core of the narrative, with even the smallest choice having subtle but long last effects in how the game plays out. RPG elements alongside reams of FPS action should please both chin strokers and gung-ho gamers.
Dead Space 2 Release Date: Q1 2011
DEAD SPACE, a hardcore sci-fi horror title, was a bit of a departure for EA in terms of its usual stable of titles, and it went down very well across multiple platforms. The sequel sees the return of astro engineer Isaac Clarke, as he has the misfortune to land slap bang in the middle of another alien infestation, this time on the space installation known as The Sprawl. Having been exposed to some pretty heavy experiences in the first title, where Giger- esque aliens mutilated and zombified the entire crew of a space craft, Isaac is now battling dementia as well as new waves of aliens, which should make for some interesting scenes to say the least.
