ET EVERYONE in your community know about the fine work the BPO Elks does! After you have finished read- ing your copy of The Elks Magazine, just remove your name and address, and do- nate the magazine to your local
library, your doctor’s office, your dentist’s office, your car repair shop waiting room, or any other public place where people sit and read for a while. By doing this, you allow other people to enjoy the successes of the BPOE, and perhaps they will want to join, or have their children participate in some of the fine Elks’s programs. The BPO Elks can help many people in your commu- nity, and you also can use The Elks Magazine to inform them about the Elks and let them know what is available for their charitable and civic needs. Donate your copy of the magazine and show that Elks Care—Elks Share.

u GER Michael Smith and his wife, Sandra, traveled to North Platte, NEBRASKA, where they attended the Nebraska Elks Association’s fall conference and helped raise funds for the Elks National Foundation and the Army of Hope. On the opening night of the conference, GER Smith was one of the contestants in a human horse race that raised more than $130 for the Elks National Foundation, and on the final day of their visit, the First Lady was the star of a ladies brunch that raised more than $150 for the Army of Hope, which supports the families of deployed military personnel. (That sum was added to the nearly $1,400 that was raised for the Army of Hope by a silent auction over the weekend.) The first couple also attended business meetings while at the conference, and GER Smith gave the keynote speech at the closing banquet; they also found a bit of time to relax during their trip, with the GER joining Nebraska Elks for a golf outing while the First Lady and other ladies toured local museums. Pictured at the Iron Eagle Municipal Golf Course are the foursome of (from left) DD Darwin Mast, State Trustee W. Dean Shafer, State Sponsor James McQuillan, and GER Smith.
