Westchester, CA, Lodge held its annual Chili Cook-Off Freedom Party, which 13 chili chefs entered and 400 people attended, and raised $300 for the Elks National Foundation and nearly $490 for the state major project, which provides in-home therapy to children with special needs.


Central Northwest District, CO, lodges held their 11th annual Laradon Hall Poker Run fund-raiser, in which 44 riders participated, and raised more than $8,000 for Laradon Hall, the state major project, which provides educational, vocational, and residen- tial services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. During the event, an Englewood, CO, Lodge member donated a handmade wall hanging to Laradon Hall.


Escanaba, MI, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Shane Poisson, of Boy Scout Troop No. 466, and gave him a certificate and a US flag. Santa Maria, CA, Lodge held its 39th annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night, which about 300 people attended, and gave a framed certifi- cate and a plaque to each of six outstanding law enforcement officers in recognition of their service to the community. The honored public servants included Senior Deputy Probation Officer Dennis Bradley, Senior Deputy District Attorney Kevin Duffy, Santa Maria Police Corporal Paul Meel, Guadaloupe Police Corpo- ral Frank Charmoli, Santa Barbara Deputy Sheriff Mare Hammill, and California Highway Patrol Officer Julio Rubio.


Simi Valley, CA, Lodge held its seventh annual Walk in the Park Car Show, which featured about 650 cars and was enjoyed by more than 1,400 spectators. Spectators were also treated to live musical entertainment.
