shows at Libs Park in Hastings during a National Night Out crime preven- tion event and treated about 60 children to puppet shows on how to resist bullying and drug abuse and how to respect children with special needs. Association members, along with Elroy the Elk, also distributed 100 drug awareness pencils and bookmarks, 30 coloring books, 125 helium balloons, and 30 Frisbees to the children and parents in the audience. The Kids on the Block drug awareness puppet troupe is the state major project.


u SUN CITY, AZ, Lodge members, accompanied by Elroy the Elk, visited the Arizona Charter Academy, presented a program to 75 first- and second-grade students on the importance of making healthy life choices, and gave each child a drug awareness sticker, bookmark, and coloring book. Lodge members also gave each child a book for their parents on encouraging children to read. Pictured with Elroy (Est. Lead. Faribault, MN, Lodge members and Antlers Program members gave drug awareness information to about 50 young people who attended a Night to Unite crime prevention community event. Lodge members staffed a booth featuring two carnival-style games and awarded drug awareness drink bottles, Frisbees, and waterproof containers as prizes.


St. Cloud, MN, Lodge members staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer and gave drug awareness comic books, coloring books, crayons, rulers, and pencils to hundreds of children and parents who visited the lodge’s sweet corn and vegetable stand during a two-month-long fund-raiser.


Washington, MO, Lodge members honored student Mark Gerken, the winner of the national Drug Aware- ness Essay Contest, and presented him with a medal and a $100 savings bond, as well as a $300 savings bond from the Missouri Elks Association and a $500 savings bond from the Elks National Drug Awareness Program.

Edgewater Park, NJ, Lodge, along with Elroy the Elk, hosted a drug awareness event at the lodge, talked to about 20 children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, and gave each child a Little Elroy doll and a bag of drug awareness brochures.


uWICKENBURG, AZ, Lodge members staffed booths at open houses at Vulture Peak Middle School, where lodge members gave bags containing drug awareness pamphlets, rulers, and pens to 200 students, and Hassayampa Elementary School, where lodge members, accompanied by Elroy the Elk, gave bags containing crayons and two drug awareness coloring books to nearly 400 students.
